Emad Rizk, M.D.
Emad Rizk, M.D., joined Accretive Health in July 2014 as President and Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors. To that role he brings more than 25 years of experience working with payers, hospital systems, government, physicians and pharmaceutical companies. He previously served as president of McKesson Health Solutions, a business unit of McKesson Corporation that delivers industry-leading clinical evidence and expert technology to help Payers and Providers collaborate for better healthcare outcomes at lower costs. Under Dr. Rizk’s leadership, McKesson Health Solutions became one of the significant leaders in the healthcare industry. Before joining McKesson in 2003, Dr. Rizk served as senior partner and global director, medical management/pharmacy for Deloitte Consulting. While at Deloitte Consulting, he led the Company’s medical cost and quality management practice across all practices. Prior to that, he was a member of the Monsanto Corporation serving as the Associate Medical Director and then Worldwide Medical Director. Dr. Rizk was a member of the board of DMAA: Care Continuum Alliance, and is currently a board member of National Association for Hispanic Health, Manage Care Editorial, and Accretive Health, Inc. He also holds advisory roles with UM Advisory Council, University of North Texas. He has previously served on the National Clinical Advisory Board and National Quality Review Board.
A Senior Scholar professor at Jefferson Medical College, Dr. Rizk’s work has been widely published in medical journals and medical books. His book, The New Era of Healthcare: Practical Strategies for Providers and Payers, focuses on ways that providers and payers can work together to reduce costs while improving efficiency and patient care. In 2013, Modern Physician named Dr. Rizk one of the “50 Most Influential Physician Executives in the United States,” the fifth time he has been recognized by this publication. Modern Healthcare has listed him among the “Top 100 Most Powerful People in Healthcare” while Managed Healthcare Executive named him to its “Top 25 Leaders in Disease Management.” He is a lecturer at Wharton, Harvard, MIT, Columbia, and the Kellogg School of Management.
Peter P. Csapo
Peter Csapo joined Accretive Health in 2014 as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer. In this role, he leads Accretive Health’s accounting, finance, treasury, tax, internal audit, investor relations, and compliance functions. Prior to joining Accretive Health, Peter was Chief Financial Officer and Area Senior Vice President at VHA Inc., the parent company of Novation, Provista and Aptitude. VHA is a national network of healthcare organizations that work together to improve performance and efficiency in clinical, financial and operational management. Peter led VHA’s accounting, finance, treasury, tax, internal audit, project management office, and technology and development activities. Prior to his work at VHA, Peter was Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Customer Operations at McKesson Health Solutions, a division of diversified health care company McKesson Corp. McKesson Health Solutions focused on aligning providers and payers through cost and quality initiatives such as care management services and medical management and payment solutions software. During his 13-year tenure at McKesson, Peter advanced through multiple operational and financial leadership roles at both the corporate and division levels. Born in Budapest, Hungary, and raised in three countries, Peter is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He received his Certified Public Accountant certificate from the state of Illinois.
Rick Kimball joined Accretive Health in May 2013 as Chief Strategy and Growth Officer. Rick is responsible for Strategy, Sales and Marketing as well as overseeing Provider Business Solutions (PBS) and Population Health Solutions (PHS). Prior to joining Accretive Health, Rick was an investment banker for 26 years at Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs. He recently retired as a partner at Goldman Sachs, where he was Co-Head of Global Healthcare Investment Banking and Co-Head of the Healthcare, Consumer and Retail Financing Group. Previously Rick ran Morgan Stanley’s Healthcare Equity Capital Markets business and Healthcare Services Investment Banking Group. Since 1995 Rick has been committed to helping the transformation of healthcare by advising companies in the disease management, consumer-directed healthcare and healthcare technology sectors, as well as engaging in the public policy aspects of healthcare reform. Rick is a member of the Board of Trustees and Audit Committee of the Brookings Institution and sits on that institution’s Metropolitan Studies Leadership Council. He also chairs the Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees for the Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care and Prevention, and is a member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO). Rick received a B.A. in Economics from Yale University in 1986.
Joe Flanagan joined Accretive Health in June 2013 as the Chief Operating Officer. Joe is responsible for delivering exceptional operational discipline and client value creation throughout the company’s operations. Previously, Joe served as a Senior Vice President of Worldwide Operations and Supply Chain at Applied Materials Inc. Prior to joining Applied, Joe held executive positions in global operations for Nortel Networks Corporation, a telecommunications equipment manufacturer, since 2006, including President of Nortel Business Services from August 2009 to February 2010, and Senior Vice President of Global Operations from August 2007 until August 2009. From 1993 to 2006, Joe held a number of positions at General Electric Company, a global infrastructure, finance and media company. Joe holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the United States Merchant Marine Academy. He also serves as a director on the boards for Singapore Economic Development Board and the Human Capital Leadership Institute.
Caroline Stockdale returned to Accretive Health in April 2013 as Senior Vice President and Chief People Officer reporting to the CEO. She has responsibility for all aspects of Human Resources including Talent Management/Acquisition, Performance management, Employee Communications, Employee Experience and value proposition, Compensation and Benefits, HR Operations, HRIS, HR compliance and Learning and Development. Caroline previously served as Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Medtronic. Before joining Medtronic, Caroline was Vice President of Revenue Cycle Operations at Accretive Health. She has served as a senior leader at global corporations, including Warner Music Group, where she was Executive Vice President of Global Human Resources and Business Operations; American Express, where she was the human resource leader for the Financial Services arm; and GE Capital Corporation, where she rose to the level of Executive Vice President and Global Human Resources Leader in the Aviation Services division. Caroline received a B.A. with honors from the University of Sheffield, Sheffield, England, with an emphasis in political theories, French, and linguistics. She is a U.K. chartered accountant (ACA), and a Six Sigma Black Belt.
Patrick Funck joined Accretive Health in February 2014 as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer. He has responsibility for all aspects of technology including products delivered to customers and the company’s operations. Patrick previously served as Executive Vice President and CIO of Sedgwick, the largest claims third-party administrator in North America. Before joining Sedgwick, Patrick was Senior Vice President and CIO of Broadspire. At CNA Insurance, he was Vice President responsible for strategy and execution for all underwriting and servicing systems. He began his career at Zurich Financial Services and held a dual role as a Global Chief Architect and Vice President for all U.S insurance service platforms. Patrick has implemented large health care technology platforms throughout his career, including medical case management, medical bill review, nurse triage, pharmacy programs, quality of care performance, and a Medicare set aside operation. Medical bill processing consisted of multiple provider networks, electronic submission, payment and reporting. Patrick holds a B.S. Degree in Computer Science and a MBA in Finance and International Business.
Dan Zaccardo has served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Accretive Health since 2012. Beginning in 2009 he also served as Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. Dan is responsible for managing all aspects of the legal department, including the negotiation of major contracts. Dan has over 20 years of experience in senior legal positions in public companies. Prior to joining Accretive Health, he was Staff Vice President and Associate General Counsel of Automatic Data Processing, Inc., in Roseland, New Jersey, where he managed a staff of attorneys who supported the Employer Services and Dealer Services divisions. Dan served as Vice President of the Board of Trustees for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of New Jersey from 2005-2009. CASA is a program that ensures children who are victims of abuse have a voice in court. Dan received a B.A. in Economics from Cornell University with distinction in all subjects, and his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
